About
Have you ever wanted to take control of the traffic lights in your area? Well now you can.
You'll have 6 intersections and 4 levels of traffic to work with as you try and manage all the lights. Don't cause too many accidents and don't keep people waiting too long at the red lights or it's game over.
In easy mode, it's easy cruising without too many cars to bother you. Medium turns up the heat when more cars and more entrance points are introduced. Take it all the way up to Insane and you'll be given rush hour traffic like no other!
- 4 different levels of difficulty are available to test your skills.
- Sandbox mode to just play without fear of losing (click on the cars to make 'em explode!).
- Local high score is tracked so you can see how good you're doing.
- Very simple yet highly engaging gameplay.
Think you have what it takes? Let's see!

Developing
Ok, this was my first game release, ever. I made a lot of mistakes on this (not enough testing, not enough depth, graphics aren't that good, no audio and the list goes on and on and on), but I learned a lot as well.
The game started with Quartz2d and it ran perfectly fine with it. I had no issues until I implemented night mode in Insane mode. The transparency made the app run very slow, so I converted it to OpenGL.
In a few weeks, I'd like to go back and rewrite the game. I think it's a fun concept that I just did wrong. It paved the way for the rest of my games though, so I can't complain.
Lessons Learned
- Test, test and test again. This was my first game and I was excited to release it, so I didn't do nearly enough testing.
- Needs audio. You must engage as many senses as you can to give the user a good game playing experience. By not having any audio you are missing out on a major one.
- No online leaderboard. Playing against yourself only works for the first couple games. The users need other people to put themselves up against.
- The game is very repetitive with no goal to reach for. There are no items to unlock, no special achievements, nothing .. just playing. This gets boring quick.
- The graphics are very simplistic. I'm not a graphic person at all, so there's not too much I can do about this. In retrospect, though, I should've made the cars bigger and added different types of cars.
- If I can't find 5 screenshots showing gameplay to send to Apple, I need to rethink the game and add more content.
For $.99, I don't think it's a bad deal. It's just that it could be a lot more.
